How to choose the right massage for you

Seven types of massage and one question: which one do you actually need right now? A practical guide to choosing by goal instead of by name.

Choosing a massage type feels complicated only while you try to choose by name. Start instead with the question "what do I want to feel after the session?" and the list narrows itself.

Start with the goal, not the technique

In practice, almost every request comes down to three:

  • I want to relax. Classic, aromatherapy or hot stone massage.
  • I have a specific pain. Deep tissue massage.
  • I have swelling and heaviness. Lymphatic drainage.

If you just need to switch off

Classic massage is the safest choice for a first visit. The pressure is moderate, the technique covers the whole body, and there is no muscle soreness the next day. Aromatherapy adds the effect of essential oils — a good option when the tension is emotional rather than physical. Hot stone suits you if you are constantly cold and your muscles refuse to let go.

If something specific hurts

Deep tissue is the only technique on this list that works deliberately with the lower layers of muscle. It is more intense, and mild soreness the next day is possible and normal. Do not pick it as a first experience if you do not yet know how your body responds to pressure.

If your legs are heavy and your face is puffy

Lymphatic drainage looks far too gentle to do anything. In fact light pressure is exactly the point: lymph vessels sit just under the skin, and heavy pressure simply closes them. Results come from a course of sessions, not from one.

Special cases

There is a separate adapted session for pregnancy from the second trimester onward. Face massage is a service in its own right rather than an add-on: it works with the face, neck and décolleté and pairs well with screen work.

If you still cannot decide

Just tell us what bothers you when you book. Every session starts with a short conversation, and the technique can be adjusted on the spot. There is practically no wrong choice here — only a session that could have been even more precise.
